Christchurch Town Tour

On Thursday the 24th of November Team East went on a town tour in Christchurch. At school we planned where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. Then we were put into groups relating on the things we wanted to do. In my group was Kate S, Milly, Annabelle, our leader Elizabeth, and I. We discussed the times and places and clarified everything. Then when Elizabeth arrived at camp she got given the time table sheets. We got transported into town and met by Hagley Park. Our group found Elizabeth and set off on our tour.

First we walked through Hagley Park and got to the Botanic Gardens. We wanted to look at the conservatory but it was closed because it was to early in the morning. So we went to the museum and looked at the Air New Zealand Exhibition. Everyone was very amused by the virtual reality. Our group designed our planes on the template shown in the exhibition. We also looked at things not in the exhibition, including the paua house.

Our next trip was to the Art Gallery. I was on a mission trying to find the oldest piece of artwork in the building. Elizabeth pointed out some very old paintings but the oldest I found was made in 1648. Our group was also very amused by the clip of the seal holding its breath for a very long time and then popping up and giving us all a fright.

We caught the tram and went to Margaret Mahy Playground. We had lots of fun burning off our energy and running round. I enjoyed going down the big blue tunnel slide and playing follow the leader around the playground.

We went to many other places too.

Over all my favorite thing was going to Margaret Mahy Playground and having lots of fun.

Omaka Scout Camp

On Tuesday the 22nd of November Team East went on camp to Omaka Scout Camp.
We arrived at beautiful grounds with lots of trees. There was a hall with a nice sunny deck. A river ran through the middle of the grounds with the sun gleaming down on it.
It's a great place for children to run around and have fun.

Omaka Scout Camp has great facilities, which include a large kitchen with gas appliances and 2 fridges plus freezes.

The bathroom includes new showers with hot running water, and toilet facilities.

The grounds have extensive gardens and would be a perfect venue for wedding parties, or just a family picnic. It has easy access from Christchurch Airport.

Should America ban guns

America should ban guns because too many innocent children and adults are being killed . USA and NZ gun laws are completely different.

This is one reason why America should ban guns. On January 22 2016, there was a 15 year old male who was shot in the leg and injured during a nighttime basketball game at Lawrence Central High School. On June the 8 2016 one student was killed and three other individuals were injured when gunfire erupted outside of the Jeremiah Burke High School following a fire alarm causing an evacuation of the school. Two suspects have been arrested.

Gun laws in the United States regulate the sale, possession, and use of firearms and ammunition. State laws (and the laws of Washington, D.C. and the U.S. territories) vary considerably, and are independent of existing federal firearms laws, although they are sometimes broader or more limited in scope than the federal laws. A minority of U.S. states have created assault weapon bans that are similar to the expired federal assault weapons ban.

project 7

Project 7
On Friday the 3rd of June the year 8s were away on a William Pike Challenge. While they were away the year 7s did project 7 which is where we are in groups and we tidy up the school for the day. I was in the chicken group with Payton, Archie,Te-kira, Hannah U and Katy. We dug up the dirt sprinkled some mustard seeds and other seeds over it, covered them with dirt  then watered it. Once we had done that we got all the sawdust out of the chicken coop and emptied their feeder. We scraped the sawdust out of their nest boxes. Katy and I also swept the bark near takahe. Once everything had been done with the chicken coop Mrs Sutherland gave us new jobs my job was to tidy up the rocks near kakapo.

clubs

Clubs

On Friday the 27th of May, Loburn School had our first day of clubs! In clubs there is several groups in different classes.  I am in the dancing group with Katy, Zoe and Kate N. For our first session we just learned the basic hip hop moves.

We learned a move called the six step, where you have to put your right leg around your left leg and your left leg steps back. Then you step back with your right leg so they are even. Once you have done that you put your left leg in front of your right leg, and with your right leg you do a jump and kick it up.

Cross Country

On Wednesday the 18th of May Loburn school did cross country. Time flew by, then it was the year 7 girls turn.
"On your marks, Get set, GO!" We were off on our 2.5 km run. In front was Katie B, second was Annabelle and third was Hannah U who i was trying to keep up with but there was no point  because we all know that the three in front are like lightning. Once I was finished I went straight to my water bottle. I got 6th and i had made it through to tri-schools. Then asked how Hannah and Annabelle did. Hannah got second and Annabelle got third. After that I  went and saw Katie, she got first and had been finished for about 5 mins. She was running round like she hadn't raced yet and I felt exhausted.

Tomorrow is Tri-schools and i am very nervous i went through to tri-schools when I was year 5 and got 9th in it.

Mt Richardson

On Friday the 13th all of the school climbed Mt Richradson. There was 3 groups, 2 junior groups and a senior group. I was in the senior group. We left at 9:00 am. We stopped after about an hour of climbing for morning tea. It took about 3 hours to get to the summit. We stopped for lunch in the freezing cold at the top. Zoe and I were together for the way down. It was very hard trying not to slip. When we got back to the bottom we climbed on the bus and traveled back to school. I think all of us were sore and tired by the time we got home.

Treaty of Waitangi

Today at school the teachers revealed another book subject. In our first book we wrote ITS ALL ABOUT ME  in block letters. Then in this book we wrote TREATY OF WAITANGI . We coloured them both in.
